Arsenal and Stoke City are scouting Toulouse left back Aymen Abdennour, with both sides sending representatives to watch the player on Friday.

The 22-year-old Tunisian was in action against Catalonia in an international friendly match and his performance was taken in by talent spotters from the English Premier League clubs.

Abdennour played in the 0-0 draw at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium and put in a solid display.

Arsenal are thought to have watched Abdennour in action previously in Ligue 1 as Arsene Wenger continues to keep his options open with a view to bringing another full back to the Emirates Stadium in the winter transfer window.

Stoke’s interest looks more recent, but the Potters too are keeping a close watch on the Toulouse star’s situation.

Abdennour started his career with the prestigious Etoile du Sahel in Tunisia before moving to Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen for a loan stint.

Werder did not take up their option to sign the defender however and he returned to his homeland before eventually joining Toulouse earlier this year.

Abdennour is under contract with the French side until 2015 and Toulouse will demand a substantial fee to part with the 22-year-old.
