English Premier League outfit Everton could rival Espanyol and Fiorentina for out-of-favour Ajax striker Mounir El Hamdaoui.

The Moroccan has seen his relationship with Ajax coach Frank de Boer break down and has been playing for the club’s second string; El Hamdaoui was also left off Ajax’s Champions League squad list.

The striker was expected to leave the Amsterdam ArenA last summer, but no agreement with any interested party could be found.

The 27-year-old is not expected to remain with the Eredivisie giants beyond the end of the current transfer window however as his representatives work overtime to extract him from what is an uncomfortable situation at Ajax.

Serie A side Fiorentina have been looking at taking El Hamdaoui to Italy, with their interest gaining momentum given the realisation that Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh is out of reach until the summer.

There has been interest from Spain too, where Catalan outfit Espanyol have been keen on the former AZ Alkmaar man.

Now however, another club are casting their eye over El Hamdaoui in the shape of Everton.

The Merseyside giants are understood to be on the lookout for an attacking addition as boss David Moyes seeks to increase the firepower at his disposal.
