Rangers have moved first with their interest in VVV-Venlo striker Michael Uchebo.

As revealed on 17th January, the tall Nigerian has been a target for both Rangers and their city rivals Celtic after a potential switch to Stoke City broke down.

Uchebo had been spending time on trial with the Potters, but boss Tony Pulis concluded that the 21-year-old was too similar to his other striking options.

Now Uchebo will spend time training with Rangers and hope to impress manager Ally McCoist in the process.

The forward’s contract with VVV-Venlo is due to expire at the end of the season and the Dutch side are keen to realise a fee for the player.

The 6"8 tall striker had been desperate to move to the English Premier League, but would surely relish the step up that Rangers – or Celtic – would provide.
