Liverpool are reported to have blocked interest in Dirk Kuyt from Fiorentina and Roma.

The Dutch forward is wanted by both La Viola and the Giallorossi, with each having asked Liverpool about the possibility of doing business for the Dutchman this month.

However, despite the Reds holding an interest in Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez, whose arrival would further drain Kuyt’s time on the pitch, the Merseyside giants are not prepared to entertain letting the 84 times capped Holland international depart.

"A large number of clubs in Europe hold a real interest in Dirk and it’s true that there are clubs in Italy", Kuyt’s agent Rob Jansen told De Telegraaf.

"But Liverpool won’t let Dirk go."

The transfer story is not over however, as Jansen plans to discuss Kuyt’s future with Liverpool in the summer.

The former Feyenoord star, who was a regular under Rafael Benitez, has seen his playing time curtailed somewhat under Kenny Dalglish and speculation of a swoop for Hernandez will also worry the Dutchman.

He is believed to be particularly unhappy at not seeing starting eleven service more often of late given the suspension of Luis Suarez for eight games.

A switch to Serie A, where Kuyt’s stock is high, could prove the perfect solution for all sides at the end of the season.
