Roma coach Luis Enrique has poured cold water on concerns that his side have underachieved by simply stating that the points total at the end of the season will settle the case.

The Giallorossi had a tough start to the season and saw themselves dumped out of the Europa League in the qualifying stage by minnows Slovan Liberec.

Enrique, who had just arrived fresh from a stint as Barcelona B coach, was quickly under pressure, especially as early Serie A results were disappointing.

At present in Serie A, Roma lie ten points off a coveted Champions League place, but perhaps most importantly for the Giallorossi faithful, eight off bitter rivals Lazio.

Enrique is ordering no panic and believes the side are even better than their points total, at the moment, indicates.

"Roma are underrated", said the Spaniard.

"But the numbers must be seen at the end of the season.

"The team has an identity and we’re discussing that, but the points will tell us what to do at the end of the season."

And Enrique added he is much encouraged by what he has seen thus far.

"I see a team which can be incredible, but we made some mistakes and we lost some games to worse teams.

"I think the team will do much better from here until the end, but this is just what I think – at the end of the season we can see."
