Former Italy defender Fabio Cannavaro believes that Paris Saint-Germain have scored a huge coup in tempting Carlo Ancelotti to the Parc des Princes.
Ancelotti landed in the French capital this winter after PSG opted to replace popular boss Antoine Kombouare, despite the fan favourite having led the side to the top of Ligue 1 at the halfway stage.
PSG feel that Ancelotti is better equipped to take the side to the next level though and ex-Juventus stopper Cannavaro has thrown his weight behind the appointment.
"It’s a great achievement, a great coup for PSG", said the 38-year-old to French radio station RMC.
"Carlo Ancelotti is well known internationally as a coach and he has a record which speaks for itself.
"He is also someone of great quality. He has already demonstrated this by the efforts he has made to speak French as soon as he arrived."
Cannavaro’s warm words will no doubt be greeted by Ancelotti, who has high targets to meet at PSG, with nothing less than the Ligue 1 title expected.
