Udinese defender Mehdi Benatia has admitted he is flattered with talk linking him with English champions Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s men were revealed to be tracking Benatia back in November, joining Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan as admirers of the Moroccan international.

Word of interest from Manchester United has now reached the 24-year-old’s ears, and he is understandably delighted to have a side of such stature running the rule over his abilities.

"To be linked with Manchester United is a dream come true", said Benatia.

"They are the biggest club in the world, they have fans everywhere and to have a chance to play at Old Trafford would be amazing, believe me."

The Moroccan though was cautious about any thoughts of an immediate move, insisting that it is his Serie A club who must make a decision over his future if a bid arrives.

"I have a contract with Udinese and they have to be happy before I could move. My contract ends in June 2015."
