Borja Valero Plays Down Real Madrid Chatter

Thursday, 16th February, 2012

Villarreal midfielder Borja Valero has insisted that he is in the dark over interest from Real Madrid in his services.

Sources in Spain have indicated that the Spaniard is not too far off a deal to move to the Bernabeu in the summer, with the cash-strapped Yellow Submarine ready to cash in on the 27-year-old.

Los Blancos coach Jose Mourinho is said to have been impressed with Valero this season and sees the player as a potential partner for Xabi Alonso in the club’s midfield.

But Valero is coy over a switch.

"We speak of Real in the same way as Barcelona was talked about recently", said the player, while adding that interest is flattering.

"I’d certainly be pleased to be approached by such an important club, but for now I can say that there isn’t anything concrete."

Valero is also thought to be interesting several Italian sides.
