Montpellier supremo Louis Nicollin believes that the south coast club could have mission impossible on their hands if they try to keep Olivier Giroud.

The French striker has been targeted by a whole host of sides, including Arsenal and Bayern Munich, and Montpellier look set to receive a number of bids for their star player at the end of the season.

Giroud’s goalscoring exploits have seen his asking price rise and competition for his signature could increase still further if he does well with France at Euro 2012.

And that may be the likely scenario for Montpellier, who might be forced to sell.

“If he finishes as top scorer in the championship and if he goes to the Euros with Les Bleus, how are we going to keep him?”, mused Nicollin.

“He won’t stay on the same salary, which is already high; that is a dream.

“He wants to go to a big club and even in our interests we can’t keep him against his will.”

Nicollin did state though that should Giroud wish to remain at the Stade de la Mosson, that news would be warmly welcomed.
