Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has hinted that he could move for Chelsea stars Frank Lampard and Fernando Torres in the summer.

Ancelotti is on the lookout for a top quality striker to take to the Parc des Princes after missing out on Alexandre Pato and Carlos Tevez in the January transfer window, while midfield is also an area the capital club could strengthen.

For the right player, PSG could push the boat out, as was the case with Argentine playmaker Javier Pastore last summer, though Ancelotti insisted that the club’s first port of call was players without high salaries.


"We have one priority: young players with salaries that are not very high", said the Italian technician to Tuttosport, before turning his attention to big name signings.

"With Pato, I’ve always had a great relationship and we’re always looking for a great striker."

And just as Ancelotti was prepared to return to Milan to bolster PSG’s squad, so he could return to another former side in Chelsea, with Lampard still a player he admires, and Torres someone whose career may benefit from a change of scenery, according to the Italian.

"Lampard is still a safe bet", said the PSG coach, shrugging off concerns about the England man’s ageing legs.

"Torres is a gamble. Now he is in trouble at Chelsea. In a better environment however …"
