Real Madrid defender Ricardo Carvalho is being targeted by Anzhi Makhachkala along with clubs from Turkey and the Middle East, sources in Spain have indicated.

Carvalho is struggling to establish himself as a first choice pick in Jose Mourinho’s Los Blancos back four and it does appear that the 33-year-old’s time in the Spanish capital could be drawing to a close.

The former Chelsea defender’s contract with Real Madrid expires in 2013 and it is believed no talks have been held or scheduled to discuss an extension.

If Carvalho were to leave Real Madrid this summer then he would be almost certainly be guaranteed a lucrative payday.

Wealthy Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala could hand the Portuguese star a big money deal to move east, while clubs from the Middle East and Turkey would also reward Carvalho well.

The defender has clocked up just six appearances in La Liga so far this season.
