Dutch defender Jeffrey Bruma is not keen on returning to his parent club Chelsea once his loan stint at Hamburg concludes at the end of the current season.

The 20-year-old joined Hamburg on loan for the 2011/12 campaign and the deal struck with the Bundesliga outfit allows for that period to be extended for a further season.

Handed the number 5 shirt and the chance to impress, Bruma is enjoying life at the Imtech Arena; he has clocked up 15 appearances in the German top flight so far, along with 90 minutes in the German Cup.

At Chelsea the competition for a starting spot in the club’s backline would undoubtedly be fierce, with Bruma looking at fewer starts than is the case with Hamburg.

And for this reason the Dutchman is of the opinion that remaining at the northern German giants would be a wise move, despite the fact that he would have just one year left on his contract with Chelsea by the time of his return, in the summer of 2013.

"Everything is possible because everything is open", Bruma told the Hamburger Morgenpost when asked about his future.

"But I would like to stay here and I think this is the best thing for my career", he added.

Bruma joined Chelsea in 2007 from Feyenoord, slotting into the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge and quickly being tipped for a bright future.

He has also enjoyed a loan spell with Leicester City.
