Alberto Aquilani is set to remain at AC Milan on a permanent basis rather than return to Liverpool – that is the verdict of the midfielder’s agent Franco Zavaglia.

The former Roma playmaker joined the Rossoneri on a season-long loan deal from the Reds last summer. That agreement contained a clause which would instantly compel Milan to make Aquilani’s move a permanent one if he featured in 25 games.

And with the Italian having played 22 times for the Rossoneri so far this season, that milestone looks set to be reached with ease.

That Zavaglia expects his client to remain at the San Siro then is little surprise, even if he has nothing concrete to report as yet.

"There’s no news; as per the agreement, he will be automatically redeemed if 25 matches are reached, including cup competitions", said Aquilani’s agent to Milan News.

"I don’t think that Milan will deprive the fans of Alberto Aquilani. There won’t be any problems and this is something we all hope."

Zavaglia also insisted that the 27-year-old is delighted with the choice he made to sign for Milan, his second consecutive season away from Anfield following spending the 2010/11 campaign at Juventus.

"It’s definitely been good", said Zavaglia of his client’s time at the San Siro, "but this is something that I think is obvious.

"He has been having a great time and is very happy with the choice he made."

Aquilani joined Liverpool from Roma in 2009 for €20M, signing a five-year contract.
