France coach Laurent Blanc has received a concrete offer to take over as Chelsea manager next season, according to Le Parisien.

Blanc is believed to be one of the leading contenders to become the English side’s next permanent manager, succeeding Andre Villas-Boas, who was sacked for failing to hit the heights expected at Stamford Bridge.

Former West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo has been filling in as caretaker manager, though the Italian is not thought to be a serious contender to get the job on a full time basis.

Blanc has achieved much as France coach and will lead Les Bleus into Euro 2012 this summer.

Yet despite rebuilding the country’s national team after the 2010 World Cup debacle, the former Manchester United defender has an uneasy relationship with France Football Federation president Noel Le Graet, who is believed to be keen on either Paul Le Guen or Arsene Wenger replacing Blanc after Euro 2012.

Chelsea will have competition for Blanc’s signature if indeed they do view the Frenchman as their route to Premier League and Champions League success.

The 46-year-old has also been linked with taking over at Serie A giants Inter, who recently sacked Claudio Ranieri. Blanc turned out for the Nerazzurri between 1999 and 2001.
