Defensive midfielder Lassana Diarra looks closer to the Real Madrid exit door.

The 27-year-old, who sees his contract at the Bernabeu expire in 2013, is believed to be disappointed with the Spanish club’s terms to extend that.

The new deal is thought to have put forward a package which would actually see Diarra’s wages at Los Blancos fall – something the former Chelsea player is unhappy with.

Diarra was frozen out at Real Madrid last summer, being omitted from the club’s pre-season tours of Asia and North America.

He was expected to exit the club in the summer window, but U-turned on a proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur, pledging to stay in the Spanish capital and fight for his place.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho declared his intention to use Diarra if he remained and the midfielder has made 17 La Liga appearances this season.

If no new deal can be agreed however, the Frenchman will surely leave in the next transfer window.
