AC Milan have admitted an interest in Genoa defender Andreas Granqvist.

The tall Swedish international joined the Rossoblu only last summer, moving from Dutch Eredivisie outfit Groningen for a fee of €2M.

He inked a deal running until 2015 and instantly set about settling into Italian football.

And the 26-year-old has impressed champions Milan in his 22 appearances thus far.

"We are interested in Granqvist", Milan technical director Ariedo Braida told Expressen.

"It’s true, I have watched Granqvist on multiple occasions and we are interested in him.

"He is an excellent player and a good boy."

Granqvist is due to go head-to-head with Milan this weekend, as the Rossoneri host the Rossoblu at the San Siro.
