Dutch winger Royston Drenthe has insisted that he wants to return to his former club Feyenoord for next season.

The 25-year-old is currently on loan at Everton from Real Madrid, but with his contract at the Bernabeu expiring at the end of the season, his options are clearly open.

Drenthe is of the mind that now is the time to head back to De Kuip, where he plied his trade in the senior team between 2005 and 2007 after graduating from the club’s youth ranks.

Returning to Real Madrid does not look a realistic option for the winger, while at Everton he has also had a difficult relationship with manager David Moyes of late, which resulted in his ommision from the club’s FA Cup semi-final clash.

Feyenoord then, would clearly suit the player.

"I want to do what I like to do again, and that’s football. And, Rotterdam is my city", said Drenthe.

"Feyenoord have not called me yet, but of course I would not mind if they did"
, he added.

"Maybe I will call them myself."

The Dutchman managed 21 appearances in the Premier League with Everton this season, scoring three goals and clocking up six assists.
