Outgoing Valencia coach Unai Emery has appeared to confirm that left back Jordi Alba has already been sold.

Emery is joining Russian Premier League giants Spartak Moscow this summer, despite steering Los Che to third in La Liga behind Barcelona and Real Madrid.

And Alba emerged as a key player for the Spanish coach, with his performances seeing the defender earn a spot in Vicente del Bosque’s Spain’s squad.

The 23-year-old has been consistently linked with a move to Barcelona in recent months, even though Valencia have made positive noises about keeping Alba at the Mestalla.

However, according to Emery, the defender has been sold.

"Valencia is a club that buys players who have yet to develop", Emery told Onda Cero.

"If this development goes well, the players can be sold on, such as the way it was done with Jordi Alba."

Alba’s contract with Valencia is due to expire in 2013, making the chances of Los Che cashing in this summer substantial if a new deal is not penned.
