Bayern Munich-bound Xherdan Shaqiri has been named as Swiss Player of the Year for the second successive season.
The exciting 20-year-old winger picked up the accolade in 2011 and has now repeated the feat thanks to his superb displays for FC Basel this season.
Shaqiri helped Basel to comfortably win the Swiss Super League title by a whopping 20-point margin in 2011/12, while the St. Jakob Park outfit also progressed to the knockout phase of the Champions League.
Shaqiri will not be able to repeat the feat next season however, as he has agreed to join Bayern Munich from 1st July on a four-year contract.
He will hope to make a similar splash at the Allianz Arena and arrives clearly rated as Switzerland’s most promising talent.
Shaqiri has picked up 18 caps for the Swiss national team.
