Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has expressed his disappointment at his debut season with Chelsea, despite seeing the Blues win the FA Cup and Champions League.

The powerful forward, who moved from Anderlecht to Stamford Bridge last summer, complete with comparisons with Didier Drogba ringing in his ears, barely featured under previous Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.

Lukaku was hopeful that, once Villas-Boas was sacked, he would receive more playing time under interim manager Roberto Di Matteo; but the Italian preferred to trust in experience for the vital end of season run-in.

And so, Lukaku was left cold when watching Chelsea pick up the Champions League, because he had played no part in winning the competition.

"I don’t like people talking to me about the Champions League", the 19-year-old told De Standaard.

"It wasn’t me, but my team, that won", he added.

"When [Salomon] Kalou put the cup on my lap in the bus I asked him to take it away immediately. I didn’t want to touch it because just as with the Champions League I had no part in it at all."

The Belgian international also insists he was baffled over why Chelsea bought him last summer only to play him only sporadically, and now he is planning talks with whoever ends up at the Blues permanent boss.

"Chelsea really wanted me last summer and paid a lot for me but after a while I thought, ‘are you just throwing money around?’

"During the conversation with the manager I will see whether he’s serious about me or not. If not, I will go away on loan. I have to play."
