The race for Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud looks to be hotting up, with the running currently being made by Atletico Madrid, Malaga and Queens Park Rangers, according to French radio station RMC.

Giroud was the most impressive goalscorer in Ligue 1 last season and spearheaded Montpellier’s eventual unexpected title win under Rene Girard.

Montpellier have been realistic in admitting that Giroud could leave the Stade de la Mosson this summer and, should the 25-year-old put on a stellar display at Euro 2012, his stock would rise still further.

And in those circumstances, keeping hold of the former Tours hitman may prove impossible, even if Montpellier can offer the striker Champions League football for next season.

La Liga duo Atletico Madrid and Malaga, alongside English Premier League outfit QPR, have already registered an interest in the Frenchman and would love to completed a successful swoop for Giroud.

Arsenal too can also not be ruled out as suitors and the Gunners are likely to move for Giroud if Robin van Persie opts to end his long spell at the club.

Giroud scored 21 goals in Ligue 1 last season and has two years remaining on his current contract with Montpellier.
