Paris Saint-Germain are preparing to wade into the race for Tottenham Hotspur schemer Luka Modric.

According to French daily Le Parisien, PSG have decided to make an attempt to convince the Croatian to land at the Parc des Princes this summer and snub interest from Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old is keen to leave White Hart Lane in search of Champions League football and Spurs will allow him to exit the club for the right price, thought to be between €40M and €50M.

For wealthy PSG, such a sum would not be a problem, but Carlo Ancelotti’s men are not keen to pay quite as much for the Croatian playmaker and will try to push down Spurs’ asking price after growing concerned that their transfer riches are leading to prices being inflated whenever they enter the market.

Modric is set to be presented with a three-year contract worth €500,000 per month in an attempt to persuade him to move to the French capital.

Such a large sum could go some way towards convincing the Croatia international that PSG are an option he should consider.

At present the talented playmaker has his heart set on a switch to Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho is keen to welcome him to the Bernabeu.

And Real Madrid remain the favourites to capture Modric, though PSG are now set to shake the race up by offering the player an alternative destination at a highly ambitious club.
