Former England coach Fabio Capello could be a good fit to take over as Russia boss in the opinion of the country’s sports minister Vitaly Mutko.

Capello has been included in Russia’s shortlist of potential successors to Dick Advocaat and is thought to be keen on the role.

And backing from Mutko, as the former Real Madrid boss arrives in Moscow for preliminary talks, is a welcome boost for Capello’s candidature.

“Capello might be a good choice for the Russian national team because he knows how to win, just look at his record”, said Mutko.

“He is like Guus Hiddink”, concluded the influential Russian.

Capello qualified England for Euro 2012 but left his post by mutual consent before the tournament began.
