According to sources in France, Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to make Zlatan Ibrahimovic the second highest paid player in world football.

PSG have agreed a fee of around €65M with AC Milan for Thiago Silva and Ibrahimovic, but talks are ongoing to iron out the details of each player’s contract.

Earlier today PSG sporting director Leonardo warned that the matter would not be resolved quickly and stressed there is still much work to do, with each of the Milan stars needing highly lucrative contracts which reflect their status in the game.

And that has seen the French giants offer to make Ibrahimovic the second highest paid player in the world.

PSG are willing to pay the 30-year-old a net salary of €14.5M per year. That is a figure which would place Ibrahimovic behind Samuel Eto’o, who picks up €20M with Anzhi Makhachkala, but ahead of Wayne Rooney (€13.8M) and Yaya Toure (€13.8M).

Leonardo is now working overtime to seal the deal, but with money no object for PSG, the likelihood is that Silva and Ibrahimovic will soon be paraded at the Parc des Princes.
