Prolific Polish goal-getter Robert Lewandowski has encouraged Manchester United to rekindle their interest in him by admitting he wants to play in the Premier League.

Lewandowski has been linked with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men throughout the summer and sent his stock even higher with an impressive Euro 2012 for co-hosts Poland.

Off the back of a hugely successful 2011/12 campaign at club level with Borussia Dortmund, which saw the forward pick up the Bundesliga and German Cup, it was yet another reason for Ferguson to get excited about the player potentially leading the line at Old Trafford.

Dortmund have remained unwilling to sell Lewandowski, but the striker’s latest comments could well encourage Manchester United to send a bid to Germany.

“The Premier League is a league I would like to play in, and I’d like that to happen at some point”, the 23-year-old told Polish TV channel TVP.

“Although I am pleased to be at Dortmund, I’m always aiming higher.”

Lewandowski joined Dortmund in 2010 from Polish outfit Lech Poznan.

He scored 22 goals in 34 Bundesliga games last season and is under contract with the German champions until 2014.

Manchester United have already raided Dortmund once this summer, stealing in to buy Japanese schemer Shinji Kagawa, a player who would surely be on the same wavelength as Lewandowski were the Pole to join him at Old Trafford..
