Wealthy Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala have denied chasing the signatures of Inter duo Wesley Sneijder and Maicon.

Both players have been heavily linked with a switch to Dagestan in recent weeks and it has been speculated that Sneijder and Maicon could take the path trodden by Samuel Eto’o, who moved from the Nerazzurri to Anzhi last summer.

But Guus Hiddink’s men have taken the unusual step of issuing a public denial, claiming that neither the Brazilian nor the Dutchman are on their agenda for the current transfer window.

"In relation to the many raised voices in the media relating to Sneijder and Maicon and other players alleged to be on the verge of moving to Anzhi, the club informs the fans that these rumours are completely unfounded", read a statement on the Russian side’s official site.

"The club will not pursue negotiations for these players."

It remains to be seen just who Anzhi will snap up this summer, but money is no object for the Russian outfit.

Sneijder and Maicon though appear extremely unlikely to join up with Eto’o at the Europa League hopefuls however.
