According to a number of sources in Italy, Inter are closing on snapping up left-back Aleksandar Kolarov from Manchester City, ending the Serbian’s two-year spell in England.

Inter have been pushing to sign a full-back and have been heavily linked with Lille star Mathieu Debuchy. While the France international is a right-back, the Nerazzurri are ready to push Japanese defender Yuto Nagatomo out to the right, allowing Kolarov to slot into his preferred left-back position.

Kolarov’s stock in Serie A is still high from a successful spell with Lazio between 2007 and 2010, with performances that the Nerazzurri have not forgotten.

A fee of around €7M has been indicated as being the price Inter will pay for the Manchester City defender, with Kolarov able to look forward to regular first team football at the San Siro.

In England the Serbia international has found his spot in the Citizens side taken by Gael Clichy, who was snapped up last summer from Arsenal. Kolarov only managed 12 appearances in the Premier League last season, although he did feature more regularly in the Champions League, playing five games.

Kolarov joined Lazio in 2007 from OFK Belgrade, making the leap from his homeland.

In 2007, Manchester City paid £16M for the left-back. He is renowned for his extremely powerful long-range drives.
