La Liga outfit Sevilla are interested in signing Brazilian right-back Cicinho from Palmeiras after Roma snapped up their first-choice target Ivan Piris from Sao Paulo earlier this summer.

The Red-Whites have been in the market for a new full-back and were close to signing Piris before Roma intervened and lured the player to Italy.

After their failure to capture the Sao Paulo defender, the Sevilla management have now turned their attention to possible alternatives.

Los Rojiblancos have been linked with Marseille’s Rod Fanni to fill in the gap at the right-back in recent days, but the club appear to have now set their heart on signing 25-year-old Brazilian Cicinho.

According to Estadio Deportivo, the La Liga outfit have submitted a €2M offer for the Green and White player, a sum which appears to match Palmeiras’ expectations.

Cicinho started his career at Brazilian club Ituano in 2006 before moving to Oeste in 2008. After impressive performances, Palmeiras came calling for the right-back in 2011.

The Brazilian has featured in 80 games for the team ever since joining and has been one of the first names in the starting line-up for the club.

The ball is in the 25-year-old’s court now as he needs to agree personal terms with Sevilla and decide if he is ready to leave his native country and family to move to Spain.
