Arsenal have confirmed the signing of winger Santi Cazorla on a long-term deal.

The 27-year-old joins the Gunners from La Liga outfit Malaga, who are currently grappling with financial issues; Manuel Pellegrini’s men only signed Cazorla last summer from Villarreal for €21M.

Cazorla is thought to have cost Arsenal just €16M, a clear sign of the rapid downwards spiral Malaga’s finances have taken, especially with Pellegrini insisting earlier this summer that €20M was not enough for the winger.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger was understandably delighted with the signing and gushed “Santi Cazorla is a great signing for us.

“He is a player with good experience at both club and international level, who will add significant quality to our squad.

And the player himself could not be happier.

“I’m so excited to be joining one of the best clubs in Europe and also the Premier League.

“I will do my best to help Arsenal challenge for trophies and make all the supporters happy.”
