Argentine international Angel di Maria has committed himself to Real Madrid until 2018 after signing a two-year contract extension to his current deal.

The winger, who joined Los Blancos from Benfica in 2010, expressed his delight at having extended his contract with the reigning La Liga champions, stating he is happy to have the support of the management and the fans.

“I am very happy and very excited about the extension, which will allow me more time to continue at Real Madrid. The thought makes me very happy”, Di Maria told Real Madrid’s official site.

“I am very happy because I know that the club has extended my contract because of the work that I have been doing. I feel very supported and loved by the club and the fans”, added the 24-year-old.

Di Maria has become an integral part of the Galacticos line-up and has been very impressive on the left and right wing, scoring 16 goals for the club in his two years.

The Argentine also praised manager Jose Mourinho and gave him credit for bringing out the best in him.

“He requested the club sign me when I was in the World Cup and things were not going well for me. Much of what I’m doing right now is because of him”, said the Argentine international.

The news will delight Real Madrid fans who will be pleased that they have tied one of their best players down for a long time to come.
