Valencia have completed the signing of Sergio Canales from Real Madrid after the player put pen to paper on a five-year deal.

However, even though Los Blancos have allowed the Spaniard to leave, the club hold the right to buy back the player if he can impress with his performances at the Mestalla over the course of the next two seasons.

The Spanish attacking midfielder spent a year on loan at Los Che last season and after showing form in his appearances at the club, Valencia have decided to sign the player on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old expressed his happiness at having signed for Valencia and said that he will try to pay back the trust shown in him by the Liga side.

“I am very excited and more eager than ever to return to the pitch and give my best for the team”, said Canales.

“The club has shown firm trust me, made me feel very comfortable, and have just asked me to focus on my recovery [from injury] and to help the team as much as possible.

“I have also noticed the huge affection of the fans at all times, so I want to give my best on the pitch to repay their faith in me”, he added.

Canales’ spell with Valencia was troubled by injury last season and it seems that the Galacticos have allowed him to leave so that he can prove himself at the Mestalla.

And with a buy-back clause, if he can do so then there is no doubt that Jose Mourinho’s men will come calling for him once again.
