The departure of Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid has been delayed after his agent left the Bernabeu on Thursday with no firm decision on where his client will end up.

According to Madrid-based daily Marca, Real Madrid want to loan Sahin to Liverpool for the entire season. But fellow English Premier League side Arsenal also want the former Borussia Dortmund schemer – and Sahin prefers to land at the Emirates Stadium.

For Los Blancos, this is inconvenient, as boss Jose Mourinho is keen for the 23-year-old to join up with his friend, Brendan Rodgers, who is now in charge at Anfield, ahead of the Gunners.

Earlier last week, Sahin had seemed to relent and accept that Anfield would indeed be his destination, but now the player is once again hoping to join Arsene Wenger’s men for the 2012/13 campaign.

The Gunners can offer Champions League football, which is lacking at Liverpool, while London is also a more attractive destination for the pass-master.

And so the future of Sahin is up in the air, with the player’s agent set to hold further talks with Los Blancos next week, when a definitive decision is expected to be taken.

The Turkey international is well aware that he must move away from the Spanish capital to play regularly in the new season.

Sahin managed just 128 minutes of La Liga football in 2011/12, despite arriving as a highly-rated schemer last summer.

Real Madrid boss Mourinho is understood to believe the youngster still lacks the maturity for a leading role in Los Blancos’ engine room.
