Tottenham Hotspur have secured the permanent signing of striker Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City.

The former Arsenal man spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane and found the back of the net 18 times in 37 games, ensuring he ended the campaign as Spurs’ leading goalscorer.

Now Adebayor will continue with Andre Villas-Boas’ men for this season, with Manchester City believed to be paying a portion of his wages given the fact that Tottenham were unwilling to pay him at the level earned at Eastlands.

Adebayor has been quick to speak of his happiness over sealing the permanent switch.

"I am pleased to be signing for Spurs on a permanent basis after finally agreeing my departure with Manchester City", the striker told Tottenham’s official website.

"It may have taken longer than expected but I am delighted to be back at Tottenham Hotspur.

"I really enjoyed my time here last season and I am hoping we can achieve great things together again."
