New Everton striker Kevin Mirallas has revealed that he could have joined Arsenal, but opted for the Toffees as he felt he was sure to play more at Goodison Park.

Mirallas recently completed a £6M switch to Everton from Greek champions Olympiacos and watched his new club beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Premier League last night.

The Belgian is delighted to have landed with David Moyes’ men, and admitted that he could just as easily have been at the Emirates Stadium under Arsene Wenger had he wished.

"Discussions were at quite an advanced stage with Arsenal, but it was always clear that it was going to be totally down to me to make the decision", Mirallas told Everton’s official site.

"From the word go I was really impressed by the extent to which the manager wanted me here.

"He showed a lot of confidence. I was convinced that what was important for me at this stage of my career was to get plenty of time on the field."

The 24-year-old enjoyed a fine time in Greece with Olympiacos last season, finding the back of the net 20 times in the Super League.

He will hope to bring that form to the much more difficult Premier League.
