Roque Santa Cruz is believed to be very close to agreeing to part ways from Manchester City, according to Madrid-based daily Marca, who expect the striker to join Real Betis.

The Paraguay international spent last season on loan at the Spanish side and was a resounding success, making a good impression, leading the line well and enjoying regular first team football in La Liga.

At Manchester City the forward’s chances of involvement are slim, with Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and Sergio Aguero all ahead in the pecking order, while Roberto Mancini can also presently call upon Emmanuel Adebayor and John Guidetti; despite exits being expected for the pair.

Santa Cruz is keen to return to Spain, and on a permanent basis – and Betis are in the driving seat.

The striker is expected to soon part ways with the Citizens, a club he joined in 2009 from Blackburn Rovers.

The Paraguayan landed in England in 2007 after an eight-year spell at German giants Bayern Munich.

He has clocked up 89 appearances for Paraguay, finding the back of the net 25 times.
