New Chelsea signing Cesar Azpilicueta has insisted that he ready to defend with all his might for the Blues, but will also offer a much-needed attacking threat.

Azpilicueta has joined the Champions League winners from French side Marseille, following the two clubs agreeing a fee after much negotiation.

For the Spaniard there was then never any doubt that he would end up at Stamford Bridge and Azpilicueta is relishing the challenge which lies ahead.

"I’m very happy to play for Chelsea. It’s a project I want to be a part of and to help the team grow. I am looking forward to helping the team win more trophies", the 22-year-old told the Blues’ official site.

Questioned about what he is bringing to the team and his style of play, the Spaniard was also very clear.

"I’m a right-back and my first mission is to defend for the team. I also like to offer solutions for the team offensively and I enjoy going forward", stressed Azpilicueta.

He did however ask the Chelsea faithful to give him time to adapt to the cut and thrust of the Premier League, although the defender has little doubt he will be able to.

"I watch a lot of the Premier League on television. It will be difficult at first but I hope, given time, I will be able to play well and adapt."
