Alessandro Del Piero has received an offer from Australian A-League side Sydney FC, who are hoping that the lifestyle Down Under will do its bit to attract the 37-year-old Italian forward.

Del Piero has been without a club since ending a long association with Juventus at the end of last season. He bowed out at the Turin giants in perfect style, helping the club to reclaim the Serie A title.

The Italian has already received offers from a number of sides, with Swiss Super League outfit Sion the latest – and the Swiss were hopeful of tying up a deal for Del Piero.

Now Sydney are firmly in the race and are hoping they can bring Del Piero to the A-League.

"We have been talking about football, but also about the lifestyle here in Sydney and the possibility of him leaving a lasting impression on the sport", said Sydney FC director Tony Pignata.

"We’ve given him a very good proposal", he added.

It remains to be seen where Del Piero will end up, but the legendary Italian forward is not ready to hang up his boots just yet and has no shortage of offers.

Key to his decision is likely to be whether to remain in Europe or head elsewhere.
