Aston Villa are one step away from signing 21-year-old striker Christian Benteke from Belgian giants Genk.

Paul Lambert’s men are working overtime to push through the deal before the summer transfer window closes and, following the agreement of a fee with Genk, Benteke has now arrived in England.

The forward is currently undergoing a medical with Aston Villa and still needs to agree personal terms with the Premier League outfit.

However, Benteke is keen to play in the English top flight and it is not believed that personal terms will present a problem.

Genk have already moved to replace Benteke by snapping up Glynor Plet from Dutch outfit FC Twente.

Benteke scored 16 goals in the Belgian Jupiler League last season, in 36 appearances, while he has bagged three goals in five games so far in 2012/13.

He is under contract with Genk until 2015.
