23-year-old defender Efe Ambrose has completed a move to Scottish giants Celtic from Israeli side Ashdod, penning a three-year deal.

The Nigerian international has joined Neil Lennon’s men just before the shutting of the summer transfer window.

Ambrose acts primarily as a centre-back, but is equally adept at playing as a right-back or defensive midfielder.

He started his career with Nigerian club Kaduna United in 2006 before moving to Israeli side Ashdod in 2010 and has now joined the Scottish champions. Ambrose made 67 appearances for Ashdod during his two-year stay at the club.

The 6ft 3in defender has earned 14 caps for Nigeria to date, making his first appearance in his country’s colours in 2008.

Celtic had been on the lookout for a new defender and have finally been able to swoop for the Ashdod player.

The Bhoys faithful will hope that Ambrose will settle and strengthen the Hoops’ backline.
