Athletic Bilbao are contemplating legal action against Bayern Munich, regarding Javi Martinez’ transfer to the Bundesliga outfit last week.

President Jose Urrutia confirmed during a press conference that the Basque giants were not satisfied with the way the midfielder had been lured to the Allianz Arena.

"The player had a contract in place. He took part in the medical exam at the German club without our consent.

“We are therefore in the process of evaluating whether or not to take legal action."

Martinez joined Bayern Munich last Wednesday, putting an end to a transfer saga that saw the Germans fork out €40M to pay the player’s release clause.

The 24-year-old, who had also been chased by Barcelona this summer, spent six years at San Mames, representing Athletic Bilbao 201 times and scoring 22 goals.
