Vancouver Whitecaps legend Carl Valentine has compared Trinidad and Tobago defender Carlyle Mitchell to a Rolls Royce.

Valentine was talking at a youth training camp and was keen to heap praise on the 25-year-old’s shoulders, with much expected of Mitchell by the MLS side.

The Trinidad and Tobago international only joined Vancouver Whitecaps last year, but has already convinced many of his qualities and potential.

And one of those is Valentine.

"I like to call Carlyle a Rolls Royce because he’s so smooth at central full-back", said Valentine.

Mitchell meanwhile admitted that making the breakthrough to the Whitecaps’ first team is tough, but insisted he is ready to keep plugging away.

"I’m enjoying the experience", said the defender.

"It’s tough getting into the team. It’s a very competitive team but at the same time, I have to relax and hold on ‘till you get your chance, and when you get a chance, you grasp it with both hands."
