La Liga giants Valencia are spying a move for Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu, according to Super Deporte.

Los Che have taken note of Romeu’s situation with the Champions League winners and believe that the Blues could be open to allowing him to leave Stamford Bridge for the right price.

Valencia are also confident that the chance to return to La Liga and play on a regular basis will appeal to the 20-year-old, who has not enjoyed the playing time he would have wished at Chelsea.

The Barcelona youth product has yet to feature for Roberto Di Matteo’s men this season, having sat on the bench for Chelsea in two Premier League games and also during the club’s 4-1 UEFA Super Cup defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

Romeu joined Chelsea from the Blaugrana last summer, with Barcelona holding the right to buy back the midfielder for €10M this year or €15M next year.

The Spaniard’s reason for leaving the Camp Nou was to gain vital minutes on the pitch but, despite a bright start in a blue shirt, he has struggled to cement a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge.

Now Valencia see an opportunity to take Romeu back to Spain if his situation has not changed by January.

Romeu is viewed as a possible successor to 35-year-old David Albelda.
