Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen believes it is only a matter of time until the club’s form improves, citing the large amount of talent present in the dressing room.

The Reds have had a disappointing start to the new Premier League season, losing heavily away to West Brom, drawing at home against Manchester City, before Arsenal visited and came away from Anfield with a comfortable 2-0 win.

That leaves Liverpool still searching for their first Premier League victory of the season, making tomorrow’s visit to Sunderland even more crucial.

Allen is not disheartened though and believes that given the ability in the Reds ranks, Brendan Rodgers’ men will soon be climbing the Premier League table.

"There have been frustrating moments, it just shows the fine line between winning and the frustration you can get", said the Welshman to Liverpool’s official site.

"I think the Manchester City game is a great example of that. We could have come away with all three points, but we’re faithful and confident that things are going to come good for us. We’ve got too much ability and talent in the team for it not to.

"Everyone knows the style of play the manager is looking to bring and is bringing to the football club.

"With the talent and the ability the players have got here, it’s only going to bring the best out of everyone. In time I’m sure we’ll bring success, so I’m thrilled to be a part of this project and can’t wait for the season to unfold."

Allen arrived at Anfield from Swansea City this summer for a fee thought to be around the £15M mark. The Welsh midfielder is believed to be crucial to Rodgers’ intended possession-based style of play.

After the game at the Stadium of Light this weekend, Liverpool’s next Premier League clash is a visit from fierce rivals Manchester United, making taking points from the Black Cats tomorrow all the more crucial.

Liverpool have won four of their last six visits to Sunderland.
