Montpellier coach Rene Girard is heading to England to take in Arsenal’s weekend Premier League clash with Southampton.

The French champions are due to host the Gunners in the Champions League on Tuesday evening and Girard wants to ensure he firmly runs the rule over Arsene Wenger’s men.

Montpellier are determined not to be whipping boys in Europe’s premier club competition and Girard will study Arsenal closely to identify any weaknesses ahead of the clash at the Stade de la Mosson.

Montpellier are in action against Reims in Ligue 1 this evening, after which Girard will head to London.

The reigning French champions have had a lacklustre start to the season, drawing their opening match before losing successive games against Lorient (away) and Marseille (home).

The south coast club did bounce back before the international break however, recording an impressive 3-1 win away at Sochaux.

Competing with seasoned Champions League campaigners Arsenal though will be much tougher.
