Josep Guardiola has rubbished talk that he could return to the dugout this season, insisting he is happy living in New York and spending time with his family.

The Spaniard stood down as Barcelona coach at the end of last season after four hugely successful years at the Camp Nou. He was succeeded by his assistant Tito Vilanova.

relatedNewsStory Guardiola announced his intention was to have at least a one year break from the game to recharge his batteries and, despite fielding a number of offers, with a lucrative proposal believed to have arrived from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk, the 41-year-old is sticking to his original plan.

And it is in New York where Guardiola is spending his time.

"I have said before that this year I won’t be coaching a team and I stand by that", said the former Barcelona boss.

"I am happy in New York with my family", he added.

Barcelona have started the new season without Guardiola in good form, winning all four of their La Liga games so far.
