Sabotage Blamed as Rayo Vallecano v Real Madrid Moved to This Evening

Monday, 24th September, 2012

Rayo Vallecano and Real Madrid will play their La Liga match this evening at 18:45 UK Time after yesterday’s clash was the victim of sabotage.

Real Madrid had been scheduled to meet their neighbours at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas, but a problem with the floodlights meant the game had to be called off.

Rayo Vallecano president Raul Martin quickly laid the blame at the feet of sabotage, insisting that his investigations had shown the wires to have been deliberately cut.

"It was sabotage", said Martin, "someone cut the wires".

Real Madrid had initially proposed playing the match today at 16:00 UK Time, but Rayo Vallecano insisted upon an 18:45 start.

For Jose Mourinho’s men, the gap to Barcelona remains at eleven points for at least a further day, something Los Blancos will be keen to cut down this evening.

Rayo Vallecano meanwhile will be bidding to follow in the footsteps of Getafe and Sevilla, by inflicting a third loss of the La Liga season upon Real Madrid.
