Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed Luis Suarez’ hat-trick against Norwich City yesterday.

Suarez helped himself to three goals at Carrow Road in the Premier League fixture as Liverpool ran out 5-2 winners and in the process claimed their first victory of the new league season.

relatedNewsStory The Uruguayan was on fire throughout the match and also provided an assist for Turkish midfielder Nuri Sahin to get on the scoresheet.

Even more remarkable was the fact that Suarez had scored a hat-trick in the same fixture last year. He becomes the first Liverpool play to score successive hat-tricks in the same away league fixture.

And Rodgers could not be happier with what he saw.

"I remember his game last year and his goals were incredible", said the Reds manager.

"I’ve got to say, this was another masterclass in finishing", he continued.

"His first goal was terrific. We built it from behind and played through the lines. There was a nice combination on the edge of the box and he finished it well.

"His second one typifies him because 10 seconds earlier he missed probably his easiest chance. He doesn’t get disappointed and immediately he gets back onto the ball and with an incredible piece of skill, he nutmegs the defender and finishes with the outside of his foot.

"It was a special day for him – and more importantly, a special day for the team."

Next up for Liverpool is a return to European action in the Europa League, with Italian side Udinese the visitors to Anfield on Thursday evening.
