Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted he loves the type of player young midfielder Suso is.

Rodgers has given the 18-year-old every chance to impress this season, handing the former Cadiz youth player his senior debut against Young Boys in the Europa League, quickly followed by a cameo against Manchester United in the Premier League.

relatedNewsStory Suso was once again in action at the weekend as Liverpool destroyed Norwich City 5-2 and Rodgers has showered the Spaniard with praise.

“Suso is a technician and I like technically gifted players, who can tactically participate in the game”, Rodgers told his club’s official site.

“We had offers for him to go abroad, but he was keen to stay, he understood he was going to get a chance here”, continued the former Reading manager.

“He is tactically very good, strong technically with the ball.

“He makes things happen. I love that type of player. Talent finds space. He is a real talent.”

And Rodgers insists he has seen Suso make real progress over the last two months, all stemming from the club’s pre-season North American tour.

“He is in the reckoning and he is a good kid as well. I have noticed a big progression in him from the pre-season tour of America.

“I have seen a real difference in the last couple of months and he has got a good appetite for the game.

“He is on the same page in terms of the tactical idea for the team.

“If his fight matches his talent then we will have a very good player.”

Suso should have another opportunity to impress in Liverpool’s Europa League clash against Udinese on Thursday.

Rodgers has shown himself willing to throw young talents into the heat of battle, regardless of their age, if he feels they are ready.
