Serie A outfit Fiorentina hold an interest in Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, according to Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport.

La Viola are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements and are advanced with their planning for the January transfer window.

relatedNewsStoryVincenzo Montella’s men have been closely linked with Lyon forward Lisandro Lopez in recent days, but have taken note of the reduced playing time for Hernandez at Old Trafford.

The arrival of Robin van Persie at the Red Devils over the summer has pushed the exciting Mexican hitman down the pecking order.

While the 24-year-old is highly rated by boss Sir Alex Ferguson, the Scot has relegated the striker to the bench for the majority of Manchester United’s Premier League games.

Fiorentina have managed just eight goals in seven Serie A games so far, well adrift of their rivals.

Roma have notched 14 in the same number of games, Napoli 14 and league leaders Juventus 17.

It remains to be seen whether La Viola can tempt Manchester United to cash in on Hernandez and whether the Mexican would be prepared to move to the Italian club.

Hernandez joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2010.

He enjoyed a stellar first season in English football, finding the back of the net 20 times in all competitions.
