Former Bayern Munich striker Luca Toni has revealed that Josep Guardiola has questioned him about life with the Munich giants, fuelling speculation that he could succeed Jupp Heynckes in the Allianz Arena dugout next year.

Heynckes is expected to stand down from his post at the end of the current campaign, despite having led the Bavarians to a perfect eight wins from eight games in the Bundesliga, scoring an astonishing 26 goals and conceding just two.

But at 67 years old, Heynckes looks ready to relinquish the reins at Germany’s biggest club.

And talk of Guardiola as a possible successor is sure to pick up following Toni’s admission that the former Barcelona boss has been asking questions about life in Bavaria.

"He inquired and asked me questions", Toni told German daily Bild.

Toni also admitted that he believes Bayern Munich would surely suit Guardiola down to the ground.

relatedNewsStory"I think Bayern are a club that would suit his mentality", said the striker.

"Everything would be perfect for him in Munich."

Were Bayern Munich able to snare Guardiola, it would be seen as a huge coup.

The Bavarians have shown no aversion to spending money however and splashed out €40M to bring Spain midfielder Javi Garcia to the Allianz Arena over the summer.

Guardiola left his job as Barcelona coach at the end of last season after four years in charge at the Camp Nou.

The Catalan has pledged to take a year long break from the game and has relocated to New York with his family.
